Any Mat in a Storm

For those of you not in Chicago, we had a sort of mini-blizzard yesterday. Dramatic, howling winds, fine and very drift-able snow. It started to intensify in the late afternoon, just as we were getting ready for our gentle/restorative practice. In addition to being grateful that I didn’t have to commute anywhere (yeah, Zoom!), I noted that there was something especially powerful about being able to sit and be still in the midst of that blustery, wintery weather event. It was a good reminder that regardless of the type of energy swirling around you, barometric or otherwise, yoga always offers us the opportunity for stillness, calm breath, steadiness, and balance.
